I wanted to tell you a bit about my trip out to North Carolina. Yes...I spent some GREAT time w/ my family (we were all out there for my nephew's high school graduation & some family reunion time) ...but I was also on my first ever GoaD AMBASSADOR MISSION & it was a success!!!!! You see...I am the official GoaD GoodWill Ambassador (In the make-believe land of GoaD) I travel from place to place meeting fellow GoaDi (the plural of GoaD). (I was given the title of GoaD Ambassador when I got home from this first mission... thanks Bish!) Bish (David, aka: itsbish...or Mr. Bish, as I like to call him) was my first EVER face-to-face GoaDi encounter... and boy, what an encounter! :o) Bish is a true southern gentleman. I know, I know, you're sitting there shaking your head, saying to yourself "NOT! Not OUR Bish!" ...but it's true, a true southern gentleman. We had a wonderful visit for lunch at Bob Evans (on our way to Atlantic Beach, NC), complete w/ a little incident that Bish wouldn't let me forget about for MONTHS!!! LOL! (Brayden got a bloody nose, I was nowhere near him, he was just sitting there ... & Bish gave me crap about calling Child Services!! LOL!) It was such a treat getting a chance to get to know him. I went into this meeting blind... not that it mattered... but up till a week before meeting him, I didn’t know whether Bish was a hot young stud or a dirty old man... just to let you know, he’s somewhere in the middle. :o) Thanks for the great visit & the Tar Heels beach towel & decals, Bish... the kids love them!! Looking forward to future encounters! :o) (see pics on GOAD.TRIPS page) After spending several awesome days in Atlantic Beach, NC w/ my whole family, we (my family of 4) headed north to meet up w/ a new GoaD friend that I had just recently connected with on the board... Wendi (aka - Tiggernme) & her family... hubby Bob & kids Chris, 8 & Abby, 4. We stayed overnight at a campground on the northern edge of Maryland & they came down to hang out w/ us for the evening. Man... what a great time! Wendi & I are very similar, I think so, anyways... very talkative & goofy, never an uncomfortable or quiet moment between the two of us! The kids got along great, the men, too... Bob & Brad are both quiet types but seemed to find plenty to chat about. We hung out around the campfire, roasted marshmallows & made our simple version of S’mores (a marshmallow sandwiched between 2 back-to-back Keebler Reduced Fat Fudge Striped Cookies... I like mine open faced w/ a few Junior Mints tucked in under the marshmallow! 1 point for the cookie, ½ point for the marshmallow & ½ point for 3 Jr Mints... a 2 point s’more!) We had just gotten our GoaD T-shirts, too, so we had to show them off & take a few pictures. Goofballs! LOL!! Thanks for the special time, Wendi... it meant a lot to me that we were able to meet up & now have more of a personal connection! :o) Can’t wait to do it again!! :o) (see pics on GOAD.TRIPS page) After heading through Dayton, Ohio to meet up w/ some old church friends (elementary & jr. high in the late 70s!), we headed home via Indianapolis & hooked up w/ Rain (Elaine – aka: Raindropet) and EL (Elnora – aka: OLIVECPA) for lunch at a fabulous Italian Restaurant!! (Bravo Kitchen Italiana, in case you were wondering) We had a great time visiting... laughing, talking about GoaD & watching Rain & Sam have a spit-ball fight! LOL!! Thanks for entertaining him, Rain!! LOL!) Another comfortable meeting... not a surprise! These are great ladies!! My timing was great, too, because EL is moving to Texas soon!! I’m going to miss you, EL... even though I just met you!! It was nice to know that you were semi-close, so that there could be a possibility of another meeting... but now you’re going to be so far away!!! We’ll have to plan a Mission Trip that will take us to Texas now! :o) I’m definitely looking forward to meeting up w/ Rain again!! We’ll be back through! :o) (see pics on GOAD.TRIPS page) This whole trip was so special!! It’s one thing to get to know someone online... I think we get to know each other much deeper through the boards, don’t you? ...but it completes the whole experience when you see these people in person... get to know them on a visual level, hearing their voices, seeing their personal expressions & funny quirks. It sure is making my “GoaD Experience” that much more personal... SPECIAL! Thanks for making this first mission such a success & very special, guys!! It really means a lot to me! Hope my next official GoaD Mission takes me to your neck of the woods! :o) ...back to the GOAD.TRIPS page. WEIGHT CHART - JOURNAL ARCHIVES - RAMBLINGS |
